GlobalConnect operates 11 data centers in Denmark and even more in the other countries where GlobalConnect is present. In addition to the ongoing operation and maintenance of our existing Data centers, there are also large expansions in the pipeline. As our new Datacenter Site Manager, you will be part of a department with 36 skilled colleagues, with colleagues in Norway, Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Germany and with employees from many nationalities, enabling you to work in a multinational environment.
Responsibilities
As the Data Center Site Manager at GlobalConnect, your role encompasses a wide array of crucial responsibilities integral to the seamless operation of our data centers. Although you won’t have any personnel reporting directly to you, your main areas of focus include providing support and overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and troubleshooting of all Critical Facilities equipment, managing end-to-end Change Management processes, overseeing project management for customer installations, and acting as the key contact person for your assigned data centers, as well as occasionally supporting your colleagues' facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Management: Ensure 24/7 operational reliability of all data center systems, including power distribution, cooling, and backup systems.
- Operating Procedures: Develop, implement, and oversee operational procedures to maintain consistency, minimize downtime, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Create, review, and update SOPs for routine facility operations and ensure all staff adhere to documented standards.
- Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs): Develop and maintain EOPs for critical incident response, including power outages, fire, and equipment failures. Conduct regular training and drills to ensure team readiness.
- Change Management: Follow and enforce change management processes, documenting and assessing the potential impact of any system changes to minimize risk.
- Maintenance & Repair: Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance to maximize the uptime of all critical systems.
- Monitoring Systems: Use monitoring tools to track performance, detect issues, and ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements, ensuring all systems are compliant with Danish and international standards.
- Vendor Coordination: Work closely with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, upgrades, and scheduled maintenance.
- Reporting & Documentation: Maintain detailed records on equipment status, incidents, and all maintenance activities to support continuous improvement and compliance.
Moreover, you will have an important role being an essential part of the rotational 24x7 on-call system, also having the requirement to work overtime, reflecting the continuous nature of data center operations as a Data Center never sleeps. Based on these requirements, it would therefore also be beneficial if you are able to reach our Stilling site within approx. 45 minutes.
About You
You are a dedicated professional with a strong commitment to operational excellence and safety in Mission critical environments. With a blend of technical knowledge and hands-on experience, you are skilled at handling complex systems and processes and thrive in roles where critical infrastructure demands unwavering attention. You are detail-oriented, quick to respond to emergencies, and focused on developing and adhering to robust procedures. Your adaptability and communication skills enable you to work effectively with team members, vendors, and contractors alike. You come with experience from operations in a technical environment - preferably data centers. In addition, you have at least one of the following qualifications:
- Technical education: It can be as an marine engineer, electrician, refrigeration technician, energy technologist, automation technologist or similar
- Relevant experience with Critical Facilities: e.g., Electrical, mechanical, generators, automation, [HVAC], buildings automation etc.
- Hands-on experience with electrical installations
- Practical experience with troubleshooting and servicing technical installations
- Meeting customer and government security screening requirements are required for this role.
